Refbook and Glory League partner for community officiating

Australia and New Zealand startup sportstech companies, Refbook (AU) and Glory League (NZ), have commenced an integration and commercial alliance that will enrich the community basketball officiating digital ecosystem.

Both technology companies specialise in solving different areas of the sports industry, which has become increasingly prominent as an ingredient to successful sport.

Refbook allows sports organisations to process complex and time-consuming officials’ management tasks more efficiently, including availability, eligibility, assigning, list management, assessment reporting, and financial transactions. The platform has quickly become a trail-blazer in improving the way sporting organisations administer their officials more efficiently and accurately.

Glory League is a fully automated video engagement system for grassroots and amateur basketball. It makes everyday players, coaches and referees feel like superstars with professional quality full game video, personal highlight reels and stats. Glory League enriches player, coach, referee and supporter engagement and connection to the game and to date has filmed over 600,000 games and been used by over 420,000 people.

With the companies’ development teams operating in a close working relationship, the dual SaaS platforms are preparing a highly integrated future for grassroots sports officials development. The integration functionality will provide a seamless solution for curating and accessing game vision to facilitate the coaching and wellbeing of officials at the grassroots level.

Refbook customers using Glory League’s stadium-based video system will benefit from local game footage being more easily clipped, shared and accessed for community officials and their coaches. Importantly, the alliance will provide a powerful commercial opportunity for both companies through mutual customer introduction and joint marketing strategies across local and international markets.

Refbook Head of Commercial, Jon Chapman, said the opportunity to work with a world-leader in community sports video capture was an important part of a developing officiating ecosystem.

“Our companies share a vision to deliver technology for an area of sport we’re both passionate about modernising,’ said Chapman. ‘This alliance will deliver a new horizon for the officials’ development and safeguarding tools available within local basketball stadiums. The value provided by Glory League infrastructure is a natural fit with Refbook and the functionality being expanded for the community level. We have a range of priority functionality to help build the next generation of basketball referees.”

Glory League CEO, Grant McCabe, was excited to partner with a world-class administration platform that complements both products.

"Partnering with Refbook is an exciting step in enhancing the digital ecosystem for grassroots sports. Together, we’re reducing administration time for our customers, empowering them to focus on building vibrant basketball communities. By integrating Glory League’s video capture technology with Refbook’s innovative official’s management platform, we’re delivering a seamless solution that benefits the entire community. This partnership reflects our shared passion for modernising community sports and creating a better experience for everyone involved."
