Refbook and Touch Football Australia join forces to improve officials’ management
Refbook has signed an agreement with Touch Football Australia (TFA) to collaborate on modernising and steamlining tournament match officials administration.
Built on the back of Refbook’s existing market-leading features, the project will deliver specialist functionality for TFA’s complex requirements when managing referees and coaching educators across all stages of large-scale national carnivals.
A non-contact alternative to rugby league played in every continent, touch football is Australia’s largest social sport with 550,000 participants.
Refbook Head of Commercial, Jon Chapman, was excited to welcome Touch Football Australia’s energy towards furthering operations within its national officiating department.
Refbook prides itself on working with selected partners who share our vision for using technology to manage officials,’ Chapman said. ‘This special project will deliver outcomes required for TFA’s major events, improving operational efficiency as well as facilitating the development of elite referees. TFA recognised our advanced technology stack would be able to provide immediate impact for their workflows.
TFA’s Chief Executive Officer, Jamie O’Connor , recognises the opportunity for the national body to innovate with specialist technology for officials management.
TFA is excited to partner with Refbook to modernise and streamline our referee appointment process for major national tournaments. Alone, the 2024 Championships event saw 2,300 individual match officials and referee coach appointments. Refbook’s digital platform will allow our sport to substantially minimize the manual workload on our volunteer coaching staff and administrators to complete the appointment process, creating efficiencies and ensuring we reinvest this time into better outcomes for our match officials through coaching and education initiatives.
The partnership has commenced and the platform first used at the recent 2024 DoorDash National Youth Championships, Australia’s premier youth event attracting over 7,000 attendees.
